All sectors of the Wagyu supply chain rely on integrity of animal and product description to accurately determine the level of Wagyu content being marketed. This includes genetics, livestock and meat products. The Australian Wagyu Association (AWA) Board of Directors has provided strong industry leadership in specifying the following Trade Descriptions to ensure all Wagyu based product is clearly described. These Trade Descriptions have been endorsed by AUS-MEAT through its Australian Meat Industry Language and Standards Committee. AWA recommends that all members and industry participants use them when referring to and marketing Wagyu based products.
The Australian Wagyu Association is the peak body for the Wagyu Industry and has developed Wagyu Breed Trade Descriptions for use by the industry. These have been endorsed by the Australian Meat Industry Language and Standards Committee of AUS-MEAT and are recommended for use by all members to assist in the verification of Animal Raising Claims regarding the Wagyu breed and level of breed content in meat.
