The Paddock to Palate Competition held by the Royal Queensland Show, EKKA, and presented by JBS is open for entries, with the good news is that the close date has been extended to 29 January, 2021.
Of particular interest to Wagyu breeders and brand owners is the Wagyu Class 39, proudly supported by the Australian Wagyu Association.
The Wagyu Class 39 is a 400 day competition open to F1 to Fullblood Wagyu cattle and will be judged progressively for weight gain, carcase characteristics, including assessment by the MIJ digital carcase camera and finally the Wagyu beef taste-off competition using a striploin.
RNA Beef Committee Chair, Gary Noller said it was evident the producers who were placing in the competition were reaping benefits from the recognition and data.
“The data coming out of the competition commercially validates the producers’ seedstock breeding objectives,” he said, adding that seedstock producers are realising rewards within the breed, as are commercial operators.
